APPEARANCE:  Was a dense purple-black colour but now slightly lighter with age

AROMAS: Attractive perfumed dark fruits with some oaky and leathery notes

TASTE:  Richly concentrated black fruits overlaying spice and coffee flavours. Medium-heavy bodied but still supple with noticeably well rounded tannins.

FOOD PAIRING: Spicy or very well seasoned red meat dishes, especially beef/venison, or strong cheeses

OVERALL:  Supple but strong, a mature red wine to be savoured

Geisse Brut Rosé Terroir 2008

NAME: GEISSE BRUT ROSÉ TERROIR 2008 ( TRADITIONAL METHOD/100% PINOT NOIR )

ABV: 12.5%

APPEARANCE:  Clear, bright, onion-skin pink

AROMAS:  Intriguing, complex nose shows soft red fruits, honey, hazelnut, rose petals and dill

TASTE:  Fresh, soft creamy palate reveals strawberry flavours overlaid with biscuity toastiness. Medium bodied, reflecting the short stint in oak enjoyed by wine prior to bottling. Delicate mousse and fine bubbles, with long persistence on finish

FOOD PAIRING:  Best enjoyed well chilled as an aperitif!

OVERALL:  Top of the range aged pink fizz, wonderfully subtle flavours, drinks very well!

APPEARANCE:  Mid purple-red

AROMAS: Attractive blend of blackberry, cherry, violets and oak, with touch of smokiness

TASTE:  Ripe cherry, plum and berry flavours; some coffee, mocha, vanilla and smoky notes. Smooth textured, light bodied and a very pleasant lingering finish

FOOD PAIRING: Serve with ham, pâtés, chicken, risottos or lightly flavoured cheeses

OVERALL:  Unusually light for this varietal, our ‘lunchtime’ Malbec nonetheless delivers on all counts!

APPEARANCE:  Still deep ruby-violet, despite age

AROMAS: Oaky, with dense dark fruits, black olive and eucalyptus

TASTE:  Very dry, full bodied and with pronounced tannins. Palate shows concentrated dark fruit flavours overlaying more savoury and oaky notes, then a long, rich finish

FOOD PAIRING: Recommended with curries, strong cheeses or the heaviest red meat dishes

OVERALL:  Powerful, tannic and indisputably a food wine

Sanjo Nobrese Sparkling Moscato NV

NAME:  SANJO NOBRESE MOSCATO NV ( ASTI METHOD )

APPEARANCE:  Very pale yellow colour

AROMAS:  Floral and fresh with an attractive orange blossom and citrus scent

TASTE:  Sweet, with clean, fresh and fruity citrus notes. Light bodied, with soft mousse and a lingering finish. Highish level of acidity means that wine is not cloying or overly sweet

FOOD PAIRING:  Try as a digestif with meringues, chocolate, fruit salads or Christmas cake..

OVERALL:  Lovely light fizz for those with a sweet tooth!

Campos de Cima Brut Champenoise 2012

NAME: CAMPOS de CIMA BRUT 2012 ( TRADITIONAL METHOD )

ABV: 12.5%

APPEARANCE:  Very deep gold-green colour

AROMAS: Pronounced tropical notes, including mango and passion fruit

TASTE:  Palate is dry, soft and rounded. Tropical fruits to the fore but biscuit-brioche notes are discernible too. Fine bubbles and persistent long finish. No oak used

FOOD PAIRING:  A great aperitif but works well too with light chicken dishes, risottos or salads

OVERALL:  An outstanding Brazilian wine, the most rich and complex of all our Brut sparklers

AROMAS: Tropical fruits blended with yeasty, brioche notes

TASTE:  Full bodied but refreshing and dry, with ripe tropical fruits overlaying more mineral notes. Persistent fine mousse, fine bubbles and very long, lingering finish. Unoaked

FOOD PAIRING:  Pair with oysters, grilled fish and seafood in general

OVERALL:  Very high quality Trad method fizz, showing great complexity and finesse

TASTE:  Ripe, sweet dark fruits with an involving, earthy character. Unoaked, with some spiciness and a hint of black cherry on finish

FOOD PAIRING: Barbecued meats, curries or other strongly flavoured dishes

OVERALL:  Bold, rustic full bodied red, ideal for BBQs

AROMAS:  Grapey and honeyed, with some floral hints

TASTE:  Light, fresh and soft in the mouth with plenty of bubbles and more floral notes. Sweet but not excessively so, with good balancing acidity.
