World Cup Latest!
Although twelve Brazilian cities are scheduled to host the World Cup in Brazil , there are some doubts as to whether any games will take actually place in two of them. Recent reports (in Feb 2014) suggest that the stadiums in Cuiabá and Porto Alegre may not be ready, for construction and political reasons respectively.
Here at Go Brazil we think it is highly likely that a last minute solution will be found to these issues, not least because FIFA and the Brazilian authorities will do everything possible to avoid embarrassment, with the eyes of the world looking on.
In March we will publish our handy insider’s guide to the host cities – notwithstanding news of the above – ideal for those of you who are venturing over to Brazil in June / July.
Visit a local winery !
Why not make your World Cup visit to Brazil even more special with a trip to a local winery? There are two main wine-producing areas in Brazil: the far South and the Northeast (red & orange zones on adjacent map).
Of the 12 host cities, Porto Alegre & Curitiba are suitable gateways for the South, while we recommend Recife and Salvador in the Northeast.
Remember: distances in Brazil are vast, so our advice is to stick to one or two cities and enjoy what the local region has to offer.
More handy World Cup tips – none of which you’ll find in any guidebook – will follow as we get closer to the tournament!
