Campos de Cima Três Bocas 2018 (Tempranillo/Malbec/Tannat)

An unusual but beautifully assembled unoaked red blend comprising Tempranillo (40%), Malbec (30%) & Tannat (30%) – a slightly different blend from the previous 2016 vintage.

‘Três Bocas’ references the wine’s three grape varieties, the vineyard location and its three lady owners.

ABV: 14%

APPEARANCE: deep ruby-red with slight russet tinge

AROMAS: concentration of ripe, untamed hedgerow and forest fruits – damson and plum aromas to the fore – a touch of menthol also noticeable

TASTE: palate is medium to full bodied and smooth, tannins soft and savoury, with ripe fig and herbaceous brambly fruit flavours. Fresh acidity; punchy and quite potent!

FOOD PAIRING: recommended as a food wine, best enjoyed with a juicy steak, roasts, stews, pasta dishes or strongly flavoured cheeses

OVERALL: Made by Frenchman Michel Fabre – who owns his own vineyard in the Minervois –  this is a distinctive, powerful and complex red that continues to develop with age
