APPEARANCE: Deep garnet red; signs of ageing on rim
AROMAS: Ripe red berry fruits with hint of spice and leather from French barrel ageing
TASTE: Lovely deep concentration of damson and plum fruit with traces of licorice or spice. Lightly oaked, with a noticeably savoury and earthy character. Dry with smooth, rounded tannins, wine will benefit from opening in advance
FOOD PAIRING: Try with roast or grilled meats, especially beef, lamb or pork, also pasta ragú, mildly spiced dishes or well flavoured cheeses
OVERALL: Has matured beautifully, now drinking very well and will do so for at least a couple more years. Nominally the winery’s second label, there is nothing second rate about the Fausto brand!
If you like this, try Fausto Tannat – in similar vein but a tad heavier & even more robust!
