Guaspari Porcellino Syrah 2025
£19.99
Just launched, in June 2026, this is an impressive unoaked Syrah (with the addition of 5% Nebbiolo) from the fabulous Guaspari winery, located in the high altitude coffee-growing belt northeast of the city of São Paulo.
Deep purply-crimson in colour, Porcellino shows typical varietal characteristics on the nose: concentrated dark berry fruits, a touch of ‘cigar box’ and dried herbs – but also a youthful freshness.
Warm spicy notes, especially cloves and nutmeg, dominate on a medium-bodied palate, complimented by dried fruit flavours, such as figs or dates. Tannins are evident but not aggressive, and will soften further with age.
Following fermentation wine remained in stainless steel tank and was then bottled after three months, to retain freshness.
Relatively low in alcohol, at 13% Abv., compared to its barrel-aged ‘bigger brother’, the 15% Abv. barrel-aged Vale da Pedra Tinto (Syrah), which Go Brazil has been stocking for more than five years. In summary: Porcellino is a welcome addition to the Guaspari range, and indeed to ours here at Go Brazil!
