The Pizzato winery is well known for its red wines and in particular for their structure and longevity. It is no coincidence that all winemaker Flavio’s reds, from the Reserva range through to his ‘Fausto’ branded second line, are all barrel-aged to a greater or lesser extent.
Here, the 2016 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for approximately 12 months in both new and second use American oak. Now 4 years old, the wine is drinking well but is still relatively young, and will develop further for another 4-5 years.
Julia Harding MW awarded this wine 17/20 in Jancis Robinson’s ‘Purple Pages’, while Decanter magazine gave it a 4 star rating.
