Pizzato Nervi Reserva Tannat 2015

£19.00 £16.95

Previously known simply as ‘Reserva’, this stunning Tannat from Pizzato has been re-branded ‘Nervi’ Reserva but is produced in exactly the same way and is of the same high quality.

Superb value at this offer price – our June 2021 ‘Wine of the Month’!

The wine is also the ‘big brother’ to Fausto Tannat, being derived from older vines (25 yrs+), aged in barrels for longer (11 months in new French oak) and offering a more powerful concentration of dark fruits.

As we never tire of saying, Tannat is a much under-appreciated French grape, producing long-lived wines which offer great value and a strong appeal to drinkers of powerful, full-bodied reds..

See full tasting note below.

ABV: 13.5%

APPEARANCE:  Very deep purple-garnet

AROMAS: Huge concentration of dark berry fruit with some oakiness and traces of sweet spice – nutmeg, cinnamon and maybe coconut too

TASTE:  Elegant but ‘meaty’ blend of rich, ripe red and black fruit complemented by oak, vanilla and spicy notes. Full bodied; tannins have started to soften over time, so wine is approachable but ideally needs food!

FOOD PAIRING: Great with roasted or grilled/BBQ red meats, game, venison, chilli con carne, spicy sausages or strongly flavoured cheeses. Ideally open well in advance and/or decant, as wine will ‘soften’ on contact with air

OVERALL: Potent, rich and concentrated with excellent ageing potential
