ABV: 13.5%
APPEARANCE: Very deep purple-garnet, scarcely any ageing on rim
AROMAS: Huge concentration of dark berry fruit with some oakiness and tiny traces of sweet spice – nutmeg and cinnamon, maybe coconut too
TASTE: Elegant but ‘meaty’ palate of rich, ripe red and black fruit complemented by oak, vanilla and spicy notes. Full bodied; tannins have started to soften over time, so wine is approachable but ideally needs food!
FOOD PAIRING: Great with roasted or grilled/BBQ red meats, game, venison, chilli con carne, spicy sausages or strongly flavoured cheeses. Ideally open well in advance and/or decant, as wine will ‘soften’ on contact with air
OVERALL: Potent, rich and concentrated, with excellent ageing potential
