A very sad start to the year as news of the great Pelé reached us all. Quite simply, he was synonymous with Brasil, and vice-versa. It was he who made football the beautiful game, ‘o jogo bonito’, inspired so many, and who left us some wonderful memories – not least the 1970 World Cup final (watched on a colour TV!).
