Pizzato Gran Reserva Legno Chardonnay 2020

This superb full-bodied, oaked Chardonnay is from 2020, arguably the standout vintage in Brazil in recent years. 

Of a consistently high quality, and labelled previously as ‘Gran Reserva’, Legno was awarded 93 and 90 points by Decanter magazine, for the 2019 & 2018 vintages respectively.

Notes of cashew and vanilla help give this Chardonnay an approachable, creamy texture, balancing a noticeable acidity, while the barrel-ageing (9 months in medium toast new French barriques) lends structure and complexity. A wine which is drinking very well now but has potential to mature further..

Amanda Barnes, author of the South American Wine Guide, describes it as ‘nicely pared down and mineral…refreshing, with bright fruit and a firm, lean structure’.
